“I feel like I have to pinch myself sometimes to know you’re real and this is real life, not just one of my rom-com books I love to read, because it feels like you fell right out of one.” Hailey said to Alex.
It was quiet. Just the two of them, standing face to face in a moment that felt suspended in time. Tears welled up in Hailey’s eyes, her voice soft and cracking between giggles and emotion. Alex wiped a tear of his own as they read the vows they had written for one another. Raw and honest. Their vows weren’t just words; they were a literal window into their hearts.
There's is the kind of love that makes the world stop spinning. The kind that reminds you what it's all about.
Hailey and Alex’s wedding day at The Barn at Timber Pointe in Hawthorn Woods, IL, was a fairytale, no doubt. The setting was rustic and romantic, but the real magic came from them. Their love. Their laughter. Their absolute joy in simply being together. And here’s the thing about Hailey and Alex. They see each other in that big, all-consuming kind of way. They don’t let a moment pass without pouring out love. Case in point: all day long, Alex would look at Hailey and say,
“Hey Hailey…”
“Yes, Alex?”
“Did anyone tell you that you look gorgeous today?”
Cue the swooning, again, and again. Each time, it felt just as genuine and sweet as the first. And each time, Hailey would giggle and light up all over again. That's just it thought. Hailey & Alex love in a way that’s playful and lighthearted, but it runs so deep. They laugh until their cheeks hurt, they finish each other’s sentences, and they hold space for all the feelings, big and small. You can tell they’re not just in love — they’re each other’s favorite person.
Hailey’s mom, Min, described them best in her speech. She said they are generous. With their time. Their words. Their actions. And most of all, their hearts. To know them is to feel loved by them. And if you're loved by them, just know you have all you need.
What I loved most about their vows, aside from all the happy tears, was how they allowed themselves to simply be. In that moment, they weren’t giving or performing or worrying about how things looked. They were receiving. Letting the love they have for each other wash over them. Letting the day sink in. That kind of presence is rare, and beautiful, and exactly what makes a wedding day unforgettable. So yes, every detail of their day was absolutely stunning. But the real magic? It was in the way they looked at each other. The way they chose, again and again, to soak it all in — the love, the emotion, the perfectly imperfect little moments.
Hailey and Alex, you are sunshine. You are joy. Your love is the kind that makes people believe in the good stuff. I’ll be replaying your day in my head on repeat. Thank you for letting me witness such a stunning start to your forever and for all the wonderful memories we've shared from your engagement session to now. It was a chapter right out of one of those beloved rom-coms — only this time, it’s real.
