The warmth of their home was only rivaled by the warmth of their hearts. As the morning light filtered through the windows, Katie and Kevin spent their time exactly as they always do—with joy, laughter, and boundless love. Between rounds of tickle monster and countless requests for hugs and kisses from sweet baby M, the excitement of their growing family was palpable. They weren’t just waiting for their second daughter to arrive; they were savoring every moment of the present, embracing the beauty of their journey together.
Of course, in true baby M fashion, there were some classic anti-photo moments very reminiscent of her newborn session. But we made it through unscathed! (And, spoiler alert—since this session is almost a year old...oops.., I can happily report that baby M and I have made serious progress. She’s officially warmed up to me since then, phew!)
But let’s get back to the magic. One of my absolute favorite moments from their maternity session was when the three of them cozied up on the living room floor, leaning against the couch. Little miss, as determined as ever, was fully immersed in her animal-themed puzzle. And, of course, she needed Katie and Kevin right there with her—because puzzles are way more fun when you have your biggest cheerleaders by your side! With every single piece she got right, her parents cheered and celebrated, clapping, grinning, and showering her with love. It was such a simple moment, but honestly? It was pure magic. This is who they are. Loving, encouraging, and overflowing with warmth. If I’m being super sappy (which, let’s be real, I totally am), this family makes you feel so at home that you never want to leave. Seriously, if I could just pencil myself in as a permanent guest in their lives, I absolutely would! Their easygoing nature, their kindness, their contagious joy—it makes every second with them an absolute dream.
What I love most about this puzzle moment is how it reminds us to embrace the unexpected—to find beauty in the quiet, everyday instances.
