The house felt quiet in the sweetest way. The kind of quiet that only exists during the newborn days, where time slows down and every little sound feels softer. Gentle light poured through the windows, the couch looked extra cozy, and Baby A was wrapped up snug as could be in her parents’ arms. From the moment I stepped inside Kathryn and Mike’s home, it was clear that this little girl had already filled every corner with love.

Baby A was an absolute dream. One wet diaper, one tiny cry that was instantly soothed by Mom and Dad’s cuddles, and she was out like a light. She didn’t make a peep the rest of the session. It was as if she knew she was safe, adored, and exactly where she belonged. And let’s talk about her big sister for a second. Their gentle giant of a pup wanted to be involved in everything, carefully hovering nearby and making sure her new baby sister was doing just fine. It was impossible not to smile watching her curiosity and excitement over the tiniest human in the house.

Kathryn and Mike were completely smitten. They doted over Baby A in that soft, awe-filled way new parents do. Her tiny button nose. Her wispy hair topped with the perfect little bow. Her tiny lips that puckered into the sweetest smirk while she dreamed. Her teeny fingers and teeny toes. They soaked it all in, knowing how quickly these moments pass and how tomorrow she’ll already be growing into her own little personality.

Right in the middle of all that newborn sweetness, her big sister decided she needed some attention too. She threw her big, fluffy head back and planted the biggest, slobberiest kiss right on Mike’s face. Kathryn and Mike burst into laughter, the kind that fills a room and makes everything feel even warmer. It was spontaneous, hilarious, and perfectly on brand for life with a newborn.

That moment captured the newborn bubble perfectly. Life slows down. The days blur together in the best way. Everything feels softer, sweeter, and more meaningful. These are the moments you wish you could bottle up forever.

Being invited into this season of Kathryn and Mike’s lives was such a gift. Baby A, you are so deeply loved (and very much not a newborn anymore). And Kathryn and Mike, thank you for welcoming me into your home and trusting me to document these first, fleeting days. This chapter was tender, joyful, and full of magic, and it deserves to be remembered just as it was. 🤍
