She was dressed in white. Elegant, timeless, and so perfectly her. Her long black hair framed her face, but it was her smile that stole the spotlight. And from the sidelines, Grant admired her with the kind of proud gaze that said, “Yep, that’s my girl.” He looked just as dapper in his light gray suit, but let’s be honest, this was Gia’s moment, and she was radiant. We laughed as we strolled through campus, bouquet in her hand, chatting about her time at University of Chicago, her big plans, and the little joys of life. Gia was giggling nonstop, and every laugh felt like a celebration in itself. She worked so hard to reach this point, and now there she was, so full of grace, so ready for what’s next.
Then, I asked Grant to hop in. And that’s when the fun really began.
They walked hand in hand, twirled, hugged, kissed, and, of course, popped a bottle of champagne. Right in the middle of this sweet celebration, a family passed by. The dad stopped, looked at Gia and Grant with the biggest grin, and said, “Congratulations on your engagement!” Cue the best giggles of the day. Gia and Grant, through laughter, explained that she had just graduated and they were not engaged. "Yet!" they added with a wink. The man smiled and carried on, probably still convinced a wedding was right around the corner.
