“1, 2, 3!” Two black graduation caps flew high into the crisp air, one trimmed with a light blue tassel, the other with gold. They crossed paths mid-flight before falling softly to the ground, and the quiet thud was quickly replaced by the sound of laughter.
It wasn’t just a cap toss. It was a celebration of epic proportions. Because this wasn’t one graduation… it was two!
Haley and Matthew, everyone’s favorite sister-brother duo, both graduated last year — each with different degrees, different paths, and a shared sense of pride that could light up the whole Arbortheater. It’s not every day that siblings get to celebrate such a milestone together, and honestly, it was one of the sweetest things to witness. I would argue that this is one of the highlights of their academic careers!
What I love most is that this session perfectly captured who they are as siblings. They're built-in best friends who genuinely care for one another and cheer each other on in every season of life. Haley and Matthew have such a natural bond; you can see it in their playful banter, their laughter that comes so easily, and the way they support each other with every glance and grin.
They’re both incredibly kind, passionate, and hardworking. They're the kind of people who chase their dreams but never lose their sense of joy along the way. And that carefree, fun-loving energy carried through the entire session. One of my favorite moments? When they immediately agreed to recreate a childhood piggyback — no hesitation, just laughter, pure nostalgia, and all the sibling love you could ask for.
This session was extra special for me because I’ve had the honor of photographing Haley before during her engagement session and on her wedding day. She’s like sunshine, always bright and full of joy. So, getting to spend time with her family and seeing that same warmth and happiness radiate through all of them? My heart was bursting.
